Building relationships takes time and effort. Some of the effort pays off and some may seem like a waste of time. With all good things comes patience.
Below are five signs that your networking efforts are working:
Referrals - People start introducing you to other people who they think you should meet. These referrals could be potential clients, power networkers, or partners.
New Business - As a result of referrals or you meeting people on your own, business will start to flow in. It takes time to build trust and credibility so when people are ready they may come knocking.
Personal Brand Elevation - The more that you get yourself out there talking to people, the more that they will see you as an expert in a certain area. As a result, you may get more referrals and become the go to person for your expertise.
Asked to Speak - With an elevated personal brand, people may ask you to speak at their events either on a panel or as a keynote speaker. As a result, your personal brand will continue to get stronger.
Develop New Friendships - By getting to know people over time, you will form deeper relationships with some who you will be comfortable calling your friends. Long term sustainable relationships usually are the result of a business and personal relationship with someone.
