Like Facebook and MySpace, LinkedIn now offers third party applications called "InApps". Unlike other sites, these applications must go through an approval process and need to be "professional" in nature. With these rules, it should be much cleaner than other social networking sites, which have thousands of applications.
The new applications include a trip applications fromTripIt, presentations from SlideShare, Google presentations, blog feeds from WordPress and TypePad, and a Reading List application from Amazon

It's great to see that LinkedIn are listening to their audience. They are also taking things slowly and surely which at times can be frustrating, however, they are building a solid business networking platform.

While they have been slow, it may have worked to their advantage. With a site used primarily for business professionals, it may be okay that they are slowly rolling out these features. Their members are probably getting used to these types of applications on other sites. So, their adoption on LinkedIn may be quick.
