I was recently tagged by Scott Bradley of Networking Effectively. This is the second time that I have been tagged. I was first tagged by Mike Maddaloni of The Hot Iron. See my response at 8 Random Things About Jason Jacobsohn. As a reminder, when someone is tagged you are supposed to share some unknown or random facts about yourself so your blog readers can get to know you better. The first time I was tagged, I shared some personal facts. With this tag, I am sharing some facts around my relationship building activities.
1. The first organization that I took on a leadership role was with my high school Yearbook Committee.
2. My brother introduced me to relationship building while a freshman in college. My first leadership role in college (and my freshman year) was with an organization that he started, Sports Business and Law Society.
3. I started my very first email list in 2000, which I sent to people who I met at networking events and it only included event information. This email later evolved to become the Network Your Way to Success newsletter.
4. I bought the domain name, Jacobsohn.com in 1998 and started using the email [email protected] that same year. This was much sooner than most people thought about using personal domains and emails.
5. I started Jacobsohn.com a couple years after my original networking email so I could share additional resources with my network.
6. I have been writing my networking column, Tech Connect, for MidwestBusiness.com since 2004.
7. My annual networking event, Great Chicago Networking Extravaganza, was actually started by Lillian Bjorseth and Alec Ross in 2003. I was a panelist in their very first event. A couple of years later, Lillian and I joined forces and began jointly hosting this event. We are now on our 4th one together.
8. The very first group that I spoke to about networking was in 2003 to DePaul University’s Young Alumni Association.
I tag the following 8 people to share some random facts about themselves:
I almost started an ice cream store in Hawaii when I graduated but went to work for IBM instead..ugh!
