Writing a blog is a great tool to let people know your thoughts and expertise on a regular basis. One of the great aspects of a blog is that it is on the web so just about anyone can find you. Make sure that you are consistent and post regularly.
Magazine Articles
Printed magazines are still widely read so find a way to land a column in a magazine. If you do get a column, then make sure to send these magazines to clients, prospects, and others in your network so they can read about your expertise.
Online Articles
Find opportunities to submit original articles to online publications or sites. The more articles out there, the more people will be able to find you like a blog.
Speak
Seek out speaking opportunities about your topic of expertise with local networking groups. At the same time, you may be asked to speak so take these opportunities serious.

Very good article, kind of general advice but true. Also, linkedin and other social media is a great tool for marketing oneself.
