How to REALLY use LinkedIn
was written by Jan Vermeiren who is an expert in Belgium and the rest of Europe when it comes to networking and referrals. He is the founder of Networking Coach. In addition, Jan is the author of the networking book Let's Connect!: A Practical Guide for Highly Effective Professional Networking
, the networking CD “Let’s Connect at an event!”, and the “Everlasting Referrals Home Study Course”. You can read more at his blog The Networking Coaches Opinion.
The book is broken up into the following sections:
What Is (the value of) networking?
LinkedIn: What Is It and How Can I Benefit from It?
LinkedIn: Functionality
How To Use LinkedIn: Basic Strategy
Experience the Power of LinkedIn
Advanced Strategies
Hot Discussion Topics and Burning Questions
Little known, but interesting features and behavior of LinkedIn
Free Tools To Save You Time When Working With LinkedIn
As noted above, Jan does an excellent job building up his explanation of LinkedIn. It doesn’t matter whether you are a novice or expert on LinkedIn, you should be able to learn something new in this book.
Most people who use LinkedIn don’t know everything that it has to offer nor do they have the time to explore all of the features. Jan does a great job laying out all of the features in an easy to understand format so you don’t have to figure out everything on your own.
At the same time, Jan is very focused on the power of LinkedIn and why most people use this tool. Therefore, much of what he writes is about utilizing LinkedIn to get new customers, find a new job, keep in touch with your network, find new suppliers and partners, and attract new employees.
While I am an avid user of LinkedIn, I learned a lot so it was worth the read. Also, the last three sections of this book were informative and did answer many of my questions about LinkedIn. These sections alone are worth the read.
If you want a handy and useful resource and guide on how to maximize your usage of LinkedIn, then pick up a copy of How to REALLY use LinkedIn.
