Each of us has our own unique way of building sustainable and quality relationships. I enjoy talking to others about their techniques because I am always in a learning mode. One of the best ways to hear about new strategies is by listening to others. Take the time to meet with networking experts and read about networking.
It is amazing what you can learn. Some of what you find will be a reinforcement of what you know and some will be brand new techniques that you can try. Some will work and some will not work. Everyone has his/her own style.
One of my secrets is to ALWAYS provide a value to others. I spend much of my time connecting others and having meetings with new and old contacts. By doing so, I can find out what people’s needs are and help them wherever I can. Connecting others is a very important technique to stay relevant in people’s network. If you spend the time, then you will be rewarded later. Paying it forward is a MUST for building long term relationships.
Also, each of us defines networking success differently. Did it result in a new client? Did it result in finding a new employee? Did it result in finding a great new contact? Whatever the outcome and your goal, we all have our techniques.
