You need to be careful what information you include on your social networking profiles. We all here of stories of college kids posting pictures of them at parties or other information that should be kept private. Once you post information online, you are exposing yourself to the world. Much of this information will stay permanently out there.
Employers are now looking at these sites to find out what they can about you. Be smart about what you post. Check out the following article that provides some stories of what people have posted and how easy it is to find this information: Faceless no more: Social networking comes with a price.
Do you have any good stories to share about information found on social networking sites?

Jason, I am one of those who is very much "out there" on the web. While I agree that you need to be careful with what goes on the web, the more important point is that you need to be careful with what goes on (anywhere). If a person is transparent and authentic I don't think that they have much to worry about.
If there is a picture of my on a social network where I look drunk, why would I worry about that? Unless I'm trying to hide the fact that I ever get drunk.
If people are the same person everywhere they won't have to worry about what parts of their life are published on the web.
Just a thought. I'm on the web at http://ryanagraves.com

Appreciate your thoughts Ryan. Yes, I agree that you need to be careful both online and offline. Consistency and authenticity is very important. However, you need to use good judgment on what you share. I wouldn't suggest posting drunk pictures. Prospective employers, partners, clients, etc. may be researching you. You should act professional in all situations.
