Fellow networking blogger, Any Lopata's recent post, Government Adopts Facebook - a Step Too Far? explores an interesting subject. Will people embrace a government page on Facebook?
Andy notes the following challenges:
1) How do you make the pages viral? People need to have a strong affinity with the government. Not sure if this will happen.
2) What about the content? If it is merely posted by government workers and doesn't contain user driven content, then the page will not thrive.
At the same time, if the government can breakdown the barriers and really engage users, then it should be a large win for big brother who has not interacted with its constituents in this way before. It shows us that the government is changing with the times.
What do you think?
