As busy professionals, we sometimes overbook ourselves. As busy relationship builders, we sometimes over promise to ourselves how many events that we will attend. Generally, I try to attend 1-2 events per week, which could be for breakfast, lunch, or after hours. However, there are times when you may be burnt out from attending events or something comes up that you can't control. When this happens to me, I decide to skip the event.
I have found that it is better to not attend an event if your mindset is not there. You will not be effective in meeting people if you would rather be home on the couch watching T.V. Like anything in life, if you don't have the desire and passion to do something, then you should step back from that activity.
So, when this happens make sure to take some time off from attending any event so you can refresh your mind. When you come back, you should be refreshed and ready to tackle meeting people again.
