During the relationship building process, it is important that you are always thinking of others. Your thoughts can be about a variety of things such as connecting people together, providing a sales lead, or recommending a speaker.
As you talk with people, you will come across their needs. Once you discover and understand their needs, you can then bring in your network to help. Your contacts will appreciate that you were thinking of them and should take your ideas serious. Make sure that you follow through on any of your suggestions.
Recently, I was asked to speak at a Chicago GSB Marketing Roundtable about networking. The recommendation came from Andrew Clarke of Ground Floor Partners who was one of the attendees at the Great Chicago Networking Extravaganza. He liked my talk about "Proactive Networking Techniques" so he referred me to this Chicago GSB group. Thank you Andrew for the referral. It is truly appreciated.
Once the details for this event are finalized, I will provide more information about my upcoming talk. I enjoy talking about networking because I can share what i have learned and observed in my everyday relationship building.
