Since my recent entrance into the blog world (it has been almost 3 weeks now!), I have been exploring the many tools and communities out there. It is a large world that is incredibly intertwined. With over 50 million blogs, it can be tough to know who is out there. One tool that I came across is MyBlogLog, which allows you to see who has been reading your blog. At the same time, you can see what other blogs and communities that your visitors are connected to. So, it is pretty cool to be able to connect to other bloggers this way. I utilize this tool on my blog, which can be found on the right side bar labeled "Recent Readers".
MyBlogLog reminds me of LinkedIn, which is an online social networking tool for business professionals. However, LinkedIn is an invitation only system while MyBlogLog allows you to connect immediately without an invitation. For any blogger out there, I recommend that you check this tool out. One of the best parts about it is that it won't cost you anything to get the basic functionality.
With relationship building, you have to be creative and find new ways to connect with individuals. In the blogging world, this is one of the best tools that I have come across. Thanks to Frank Gruber, author of Somewhat Frank, for originally turning me on to MyBlogLog. Frank does an awesome job of finding and reviewing new online technologies.
Let me know what other online tools or technologies that you use to build relationships.
